June 9th, 2025-- "The president employed a rarely used federal power to send military members to quell against his administration's immigration raids in [Los Angeles]".

--Katie Herchenroeder, writer for teenVOGUE

On the 141st day of Trump's second term in office, National Guard troops were sent into the city of Los Angeles after two days of protesting against the new implemented immigration policies. California's governor, Gavin Newsom, was against this action and took to X that this was done not due to a shortage of law enforcement, but because "they want a spectacle."

California may be the first, but it is clearly not the end. Other major cities including Dallas and Austin, Texas, Chicago and New York are places where thousands have rallied to protest Trump's enforcement of immigration laws that are tearing apart migrant families.

Democracy is next.
